Abigail Swisher

Abigail Swisher is a seasoned education policy professional currently serving as a Rural Education Impact Fellow at the U.S. Department of Education since August 2023. Prior to this role, Abigail was the Director of Policy and Programs at the National Council on Teacher Quality from July 2021 to August 2023, and an Independent Consultant providing strategic advising and research support from March 2018 to July 2023. Abigail's experience includes serving as a Senior National Policy Associate at Educators for Excellence, where advocacy campaigns were designed and executed, and as a Public Policy Fellow at The Aspen Institute, facilitating leadership development for education leaders. Abigail managed the college and career readiness policy portfolio at New America and held positions as a Policy and Advocacy Fellow at Leadership for Educational Equity and as an Upper Elementary STEM Teacher at Joe Toler-Oak Hill Elementary School. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Goucher College and a Certificate in Middle Grades Education from East Carolina University.
