Jim Thompson

Jim Thompson currently serves as the Director of Government Capacity at the Federation of American Scientists, focusing on enhancing government effectiveness in policy and processes. Previously, Jim held multiple roles at the U.S. Department of State, including Program Officer for the FIRST initiative and Science Centers Programs, and Director of Partnerships, where important international collaborations and strategic implementations were prioritized. Experience extends to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as Deputy Group Chief and the National Security Council as Director of Partnerships and Global Engagement. Jim has a strong background in fostering public-private partnerships, having worked also at USAID and the Transportation Security Administration. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Political Studies from The University of Auckland and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Saint Joseph's University.
