Sherif Zaafran

Sherif Zaafran, MD, FASA, is a distinguished anesthesiologist with extensive experience in various leadership roles within medical organizations. Currently serving as a Board Member for the Federation of State Medical Boards since May 2023 and an Advisory Committee Member for the FDA since April 2020, Zaafran has also held the position of President at the Texas Medical Board since January 2017. Additionally, Zaafran is the Vice Chairman of the Clinical Governance Board and National Legislative Liaison at US Anesthesia Partners, where involvement dates back to October 1999. Past contributions include serving as the Subcommittee Chair for the Pain Management Taskforce at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from March 2018 to June 2019 and as an Advisory Board Member for Lucid Lane since March 2019. Educational background includes earning a Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, following undergraduate studies at The University of Texas at Austin.
