Hugo Ferreira

Hugo Ferreira is a seasoned professional in the field of data science and artificial intelligence, currently serving as Director of AI Research at Feedzai since July 2018, where contributions include coordinating multiple machine learning projects focused on fraud detection. Hugo has held various positions within Feedzai, progressing from Data Scientist to Research Data Science Senior Manager. In addition, Hugo is an instructor at the Lisbon Data Science Academy, teaching topics such as basic statistics and recommender systems. As an Event Coordinator for the Lisbon NeurIPS Meetup 2019, notable achievements include organizing the only official NeurIPS meetup in Portugal and Spain. Prior experience includes research roles at Instituto Superior Técnico and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, as well as a postdoctoral fellowship at INFN, with a focus on field theory related to black holes. Education includes a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Nottingham and a Master of Advanced Studies in Applied Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
