Douglas Barkema is currently serving as the Executive Vice President and Legal Counsel at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Prior to this role, they worked at Ardent Mills as the General Counsel/Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary. At Ardent Mills, they were responsible for guiding the development and execution of the legal strategy, managing risk, and achieving business objectives. At Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly, they held the roles of Associate, Business Litigation, and CAREERS Summer Associate, where they gained experience and developed their skills as a business attorney. Barkema also had earlier experiences at McGrath, North, Mullin, & Kratz P.C., Maytag Corporation, and Principal Financial Group, where they gained valuable skills and knowledge in different fields.

Douglas Barkema has a Doctor of Law - JD, with high distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law (2000-2003). Douglas also holds a Masters of Art Theological Studies, Summa Cum Laude from Bethel Seminary-St. Paul (2011-2014) with a focus on Theology/Divinity/Ministry. Additionally, they obtained a Bachelor of Science - BS, with honors and distinction in Finance, General from Iowa State University - Ivy College of Business (1994-1998). Douglas Barkema has been admitted to the Colorado State Bar as a full bar member in 2019 and also holds a single-client license from the State of Colorado since 2014. Furthermore, they have been admitted to the Minnesota State Bar.
