FERA Animal Health, LLC was founded in 2014 by Dr. Rodrigo Bicalho, and named in honor of his two sons. The company’s first product, an early version of AccuMast®, was developed in response to a large demand from Central New York dairy farms for a new mastitis testing methodology. Drs. Tom Smith and Erika Huyck were soon brought on board to help further develop the AccuMast product and expand its market. AccuStaph was added to the product line in 2015. FERA Animal Health continued to grow organically until 2017 when proprietary packaging was created to increase product stability and shelf life. This allowed us to take the next big step into commercial distribution.

In late 2017, FERA added a line of companion animal diagnostics that uses technology similar to AccuMast, but is adapted for canine and feline applications. The first product, UTid, was then beta tested, refined, produced and launched in early 2018. Jim Heinle joined our team to help develop and advise for the commercial launch of UTid in the companion animal sector.

In February 2018, FERA Animal Health, LLC was restructured and renamed FERA Diagnostics and Biologicals to reflect our growth and future plans. We are currently seeking distribution partnerships in both large and small animal markets for our existing products, as well as the exciting future products in our development pipeline that will continue to revolutionize the animal health industry.
