Michael Seo

Dr. Michael Seo is Director of Information Technology and Proprietary Algorithms. Michael joined Fermat in 2005 and has over 20 years of experience in commercially applied mathematical modeling. Michael brings to the firm a background in software development, signal processing, image recognition, and ML/AI classification algorithms. He also has extensive experience working with custom GPUs, performing image processing and video streaming codecs. Prior to joining his brothers at Fermat, he was director of software and algorithm development for biomedical instrumentation company, Amnis Corporation in Seattle. Before Amnis, Michael was part of the ML/AI team at NeoPath Inc./TriPath Imaging Inc. whose algorithms were core to the first FDA-approved, fully-automated cancer screening device. Michael received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (1993) and a BS degree in electrical engineering and computer science, as well as a BA in mathematics (triple major) from Southern Methodist University (1986).
