Matt Butcher

Matt Butcher is currently the CEO of Fermyon Technologies. Prior to that, they were a Principal Software Development Engineer at Microsoft from May 2017 to November 2021. There, they led a team of engineers that built open source tools for cloud native computing, including Helm, Draft, OAM, Brigade, Krustlet, CNAB, Porter, Duffle, and the VS Code Kubernetes Extension. Butcher has also worked as a Deis Core Contributor at Engine Yard from June 2015 to May 2017, where they led the Deis Upstream team responsible for developing new features. In addition, they have served as Head of Cloud Services at Revolv Inc from July 2013 to October 2014 and as a Senior Software Developer at Hewlett-Packard from October 2011 to July 2013.

Matt Butcher received their PhD in philosophy from Loyola University Chicago, where they also received their MA with distinction in philosophy. Matt received their BA in philosophy, magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
