Jim Docter

Director, Staff Development at FHE Health

As the staff development educator for FHE Health, Jim Docter is responsible for all live and online training and development of their staff. His extensive experience in program development—both in the addiction and mental health field and the employee and leadership training world—makes him uniquely qualified for this role.

Jim first began his career in behavioral healthcare at the Florida-based hospital, HCA Lawnwood Pavilion Mental Health Services. There, as Patient Advocate and Manager of Experiential Education and Therapy, Mr. Docter developed inpatient and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for mental health and chemical dependency patients. His work drew local and national recognition: Jim was recognized as an “HCA Lawnwood Legend” and received the “Humanitarian of the Year” award; and, the program he oversaw received national distinction from the Joint Commission as the “highest and best” in its class.

From there, Jim went on to pursue a career in employee development: as the manager of training for Liberty/Medco, he was able to apply his background in mental health to the task of developing outstanding employee and leadership development programs, with a focus on leadership, compliance and customer service.

Eventually, Mr. Docter returned to the mental health field, serving as the manager of employee development and training for a national addiction treatment provider. He joined FHE Health team in 2018 because he believes in the quality of client care and employee engagement that FHE Health provides.

Mr. Docter is a certified MBTI (“Myers-Briggs Type Indicator”) practitioner, certified Langevin Trainer, and certified Reiki professional.
