Sebastian Scherer

Sebastian Scherer is a highly experienced professional in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence, currently serving as the Director of Safe Embodied AI at Field AI since February 2025. Scherer has held various academic positions at Carnegie Mellon University since February 2012, including Associate Research Professor, Senior Systems Scientist, and Systems Scientist, while also being a Research Associate Professor at The AIR Lab at Carnegie Mellon University since February 2011. Prior to these roles, Scherer worked as a Senior Scientist at NEAR EARTH AUTONOMY from January 2013 to February 2025 and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University from 2001 to 2010.
