Lauren Hancock

Head Registrar For Anthropology at FIELD MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

Lauren Hancock has a diverse work experience in various museums and art conservation centers. Lauren started their career in 2008 as a Collections Move Assistant at the Williamstown Art Conservation Center, where they assisted in the relocation of collections and performed tasks related to storage and packing. After that, they worked as an Assistant Registrar at the Cincinnati Museum Center for five years, handling incoming and outgoing loans, managing database records, and maintaining paper files. Lauren then joined the Wisconsin Historical Society as a Collections Preparation Associate for a few months before working as a Collections Associate at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, where they completed an inventory project and updated the museum's database. Lauren'smost recent position was at The Field Museum, where they held the roles of Associate Registrar and Head Registrar for Anthropology. In these roles, they managed registration activities, implemented loan programs, and developed strategies for processing backlog. Lauren also handled incoming donations, corresponded with potential donors, and ensured the completion of accession paperwork.

Lauren Hancock began their education journey by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Anthropology and History of Art from the University of Michigan. Lauren attended this institution from 1999 to 2003.

After completing their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Museum Studies from The George Washington University. This program was undertaken from 2005 to 2007.
