Sarah Ebel

General Counsel

Sarah Ebel is a legal professional with extensive experience in museum law and collections management. Currently serving as General Counsel at the Field Museum since September 2014, Sarah has progressed through roles as Associate General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel, addressing legal matters related to museum collections, research, exhibitions, and public programs, with a focus on copyright and trademark issues. Prior experience includes roles at the Chicago History Museum, Circuit Court of Cook County, and legal internships during law school at DePaul University. Sarah holds a Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law, a Master's degree in American Material Culture from the University of Delaware, and a Bachelor's degree in History and American Studies from DePaul University.
