Director of Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management

Packaging Machines / Assembly Machines / Industrial Machinery

You will lead Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Quality Control, Production and Service, Facilities, Project Management and Environmental Health & Safety teams designing, building, and servicing industrial filling and integrated packaging systems.  This position is responsible for all functions from order receipt through delivery and supporting of our machinery at our customer’s site. Through your leadership and partnership with the Senior Leadership Team you will be tasked to ensure that customer orders are shipped on time, within budget, meeting the customers’ requirements while providing a superb customer experience.

You will manage our R&D program which will ensure that our equipment and services uses state-of-the-art technology and provides a sustainable, superior valuation proposition.  You will partner with Sales Leadership to chair the Sales and Operations Committee to ensure that sales and operations are in alignment.   You will be responsible for ensuring that our equipment meets our customers’ features, costs, and delivery time requirements while meeting the company’s profit margin expectations. 

Filamatic has provided industrial filling and integrated packaging systems to the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Diagnostic, Cannabis, Food and Beverage as well as Health and Beauty for over 70 years.  The Director of Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management reports to Executive Leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the team delivers high quality industrial machinery on time and within budget that meets the customer’s expectations.
  • Conduct capacity planning to ensure that delivery schedules can be met.
  • Manage engineering, project management, manufacturing (production, assembly, supply chain, machine shop), technical service, and quality control teams.
  • Meet metrics, KPI’s and goals for each functional area.
  • Leverage exceptional leadership skills and expertise to coach, mentor, and guide the staff in attainment of goals and objectives.
  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to implement, utilize and optimize technology, processes and people that will scale in proportion to increasing demand.
  • Establish and reinforce the tone and expectations of the teams that will add to our strong culture and history.
  • Analyze and assess current and past projects to identify weaknesses and then build and implement strategies to drive continuous improvement and new product innovation and development.
  • Leveraging ERP system to drive efficiencies across the organization.
  • Assess and optimize each functional area to drive innovation, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain allowing Filamatic to exceed the expectations of our customers, increasing market share and profitability.
  • Oversee and drive all aspects of facilities management and Environmental Health & Safety programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field of study.

  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role leading multiple highly skilled teams in a mixed mode industrial machinery manufacturing environment that successfully meets established metrics, KPI’s, and goals.

  • Successfully managed engineering, manufacturing, quality (ISO 9000), project management and supply chain and technical services teams at an industrial machinery, or capital equipment company.

  • Analytical thinker with demonstrated knowledge and experience of continuous improvement including lean and six-sigma principles.

  • Proven track record of shipping complex industrial machinery or capital equipment on time, within budget, that meet or exceed customers’ expectations.

  • Strong knowledge or experience with project management principles, supply chain management, global sourcing, Sales and Operations Planning, mass customization (modular manufacturing) and mixed mode manufacturing.

  • Experience with ERP Systems such as IFS, Syteline, or Epicor.

  • APICS, CPIM, and CSCP certifications are beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range:$160,000 - $190,000 per year

Benefits:Excellent benefits package that allows you to accrue 3 weeks of annual vacation, 10 paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave, Medical (3 different plan options), Dental, Vision, among some of our benefit offerings.  Eligibility for insurance and 401K is the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
