Chief Technology Officer at Filament AI

James Ravenscroft has over nine years of professional experience in the technology industry. In 2010, they began their career as a Demonstrator at Aberystwyth University, providing support and feedback to first year students in programming and software engineering. In 2011, they joined IBM as a CICS Testing Software Engineer, where they wrote and maintained testing frameworks and applications for the CICS Transaction Processing system. James also led an educational course on PHP teaching colleagues, both technical and non-technical about the language. In 2013, they became a Research Assistant at the University of Warwick, while also working as a Watson Solutions Architect, CICS Liberty Software Engineer, Emerging Technologies Developer and CICS Testing Infrastructure Developer at IBM. In 2015, they began a part-time PhD Student in Natural Language Processing at the University of Warwick. Finally, in 2016, they became the Chief Technology Officer at Filament AI, helping design and build AI and machine learning solutions using best of breed technologies from Google, IBM and Microsoft, as well as overseeing the development of their own bespoke technologies using frameworks like Tensorflow, Keras and scikit learn. James also oversees research and development activities within the company and frequently attends academic conferences and workshops.

James Ravenscroft attended Lacon Childe School from 2002 to 2007. James then went on to Ludlow College from 2007 to 2009, where they achieved an A Level in Physics, Maths, and Computing. Finally, they attended Aberystwyth University from 2009 to 2013, where they received a BSc in AI and Robotics. Additionally, in June 2016, they obtained an IBM Certified Application Developer - Watson V3 Certification from IBM.
