Dr. Michael Voelkel

Dr. Michael Voelkel has a range of work experience in various roles and industries. Dr. Michael is currently the Head of Backend Development at FileWave, where they manage a team of 11+ software developers and serves as a backend architect and senior developer. Prior to this role, they were a Senior Software Engineer at FileWave from May 2020 to April 2021.

Before joining FileWave, Dr. Voelkel founded and served as the Managing Director of PokerRanger since December 2012.

Dr. Michael also has experience at the University of Cologne, where they worked as a Software architect, project manager, and scientific employee from April 2014 to May 2020. Prior to that, they worked at SAP as a Software engineer in a dual study program from June 2008 to May 2011.

Dr. Michael Voelkel obtained a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management / Mathematical Optimization from the University of Cologne, completing their studies from 2014 to 2020. Prior to their doctoral studies, they earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Information Systems also from the University of Cologne, which they received between 2011 and 2014. Dr. Voelkel's educational journey began at DHBW Mannheim, where they completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Information Systems, spanning the years 2008 to 2011.
