Kumar began a career in education as an Instructor at Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology, teaching Aircraft Maintenance Engineering in the Avionics stream. Educational qualifications include an MBA from Xavier Institute of Management and a degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering from the Indian Institute of Aeronautical Science.
