Kate Mayfield has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Kate started their career as an ESL Teacher/Video Program Coordinator at LAUSD from 2002 to 2006. Kate then worked as a Writer's Assistant to Larry Kaplow at Fox Television in 2007. From 2008 to 2009, they co-founded and served as an editor for Datebook-LA.com. Kate joined The Traffic Agency as a Copywriter from 2008 to 2010, exclusively working on Mitsubishi Motors projects. In 2010, they briefly worked as a Copywriter for Deutsch, handling the Fresh and Easy Account. From 2011 to 2011, they worked as a Copywriter at ScoreBig Inc, producing content for various brand platforms. Kate then began their freelance career from 2010 to 2015, working with various clients in branding, advertising, and copywriting. In 2015, they joined Kern, An Omnicom Agency as a Senior Copywriter, leading a creative team and developing content strategies for clients. Kate then moved to LegalZoom as a Senior Content Strategist from 2019 to 2020, and later became the Senior Managing Editor from 2020 to 2021, overseeing the production of 50+ articles per month. Currently, they are working as the Content Director at Finance of America Reverse, leading the company's editorial content strategy.
Kate Mayfield attended Barnard College from 1991 to 1995, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Theatre. In 2008 and 2009, they studied Advertising at the Bookshop, though they did not receive a degree. From 2000 to 2002, they pursued their Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing at the University of Arizona.
