Maarit Valtonen

Maarit Valtonen is a highly experienced physician specializing in sports and exercise medicine. Since May 2015, Valtonen has held positions at the Research Institute for Olympic Sports KIHU and the Finnish Olympic Committee. Valtonen has also been a physician at Mehiläinen since September 2010. Previous experience includes serving as a researcher at LIKES Research Center for Sport and Health Sciences from November 2008 to April 2015 and as a resident physician at Central Finland Hospital from May 2005 to June 2012. Valtonen's academic background includes a Master's Degree in Clinical Research from Oregon Health & Science University (2012-2014), a Ph.D. in Medicine with a focus on Epidemiology from the University of Eastern Finland (2005-2011), and an M.D. in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of Kuopio (1998-2004).
