Paul McAdam

Head of Next Generation Sequencing at Fios Genomics

Paul McAdam has a diverse work experience in the field of genomics and bioinformatics. Paul is currently working at Fios Genomics as the Head of Next Generation Sequencing since July 2020. Previously at Fios Genomics, they served as the Bioinformatics Team Leader from 2015 to 2018.

Before joining Fios Genomics, Paul worked as a Principal Scientific Officer at Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute from 2018 to 2019. Paul also gained experience as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Melbourne in 2014 and as an MRC Centenary award fellow at the Roslin Institute from 2013 to 2014.

Earlier in their career, Paul served as a Visiting Researcher at the Veterans Medical Research Foundation from May 2009 to September 2009.

Overall, Paul has demonstrated expertise and leadership in the field of genomics and bioinformatics, with a focus on Next Generation Sequencing and team management.

Paul McAdam completed their Bachelor of Medicine (MA) degree at the University of Cambridge from 2004 to 2007. Paul then pursued a Master of Research (MRes) degree in Computational Biology at the University of York in 2008 and 2009. Later, Paul obtained their PhD in Genomics and Microbiology from The University of Edinburgh between 2009 and 2013. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have also acquired several certifications throughout their career. These include the TeamOps Certification from GitLab obtained in January 2023, the How to Manage a Remote Team certification from Coursera obtained in February 2022, the Inspiring and Motivating Individuals certification from Coursera obtained in June 2020, and the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) obtained in October 2022.
