Wendy Cao began their work experience as an Amgen Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley in May 2017. Wendy then worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Baskin Lab at Cornell University from September 2015 to May 2018, where they synthesized glycoprobes for imaging glycosylation patterns and cloned PLEKHA4 protein constructs. Starting in August 2018, Wendy became a Graduate Student Researcher in the Matthew Francis and Dean Toste Labs at the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on developing enzyme-mediated bioconjugation strategies and screening enzymes for oxidative coupling capabilities. Wendy also served as a Graduate Student Instructor, teaching undergraduate general chemistry and organic chemistry labs and discussions, as well as a graduate chemical biology course, from August 2018 to May 2020. In 2021, Wendy worked as a Discovery Process Chemistry Intern at Merck. Wendy is currently a Scientist I at Firefly Biologics, starting in June 2023.
Wendy Cao completed their Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at Cornell University from 2014 to 2018. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, which is expected to be completed by 2023.
