Lead Nutritional Chef at First Descents

Lauren Wood, RDN has held various roles in the field of nutrition and culinary arts. Lauren began their career at various restaurants, gaining experience in both cooking and baking. In 2014, they served as the Kitchen Manager and Television Production Assistant at Johnson & Wales University. In 2016, they worked as a Kitchen Assistant at the United States Olympic Training Center. Lauren then pursued a career in dietetics, completing a Dietetic Internship at Daemen College from 2017 to 2018. Following this, they worked at EDCare as a Registered Dietitian, utilizing principles such as Health at Every Size (HAES) and intuitive eating when counseling patients. Lauren also served as an Executive Chef, creating and implementing menus, and as a Dietetic Technician/On-Call Chef. In 2017, Lauren joined First Descents as the Lead Nutritional Chef, developing plant-based recipes and managing kitchen expenses for oncology participants. Lauren then worked at Rebecca Bitzer & Associates as an Eating Disorder Dietitian from May to November 2021. Most recently, Lauren joined Allaur Nutrition in 2018 as a Personal Chef, where they manage menu costs, tailors weekly menus, and conducts reviews of client medical records. Overall, Lauren's diverse work experience showcases their expertise in nutrition, culinary arts, and patient counseling.

Lauren Wood, RDN, obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Culinary Nutrition from Johnson & Wales University, completing their studies from 2015 to 2017. In addition, they earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) degree in Baking and Pastry Arts/Baker/Pastry Chef during the same period at the same institution. Prior to their B.S. degree, Lauren also completed an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) degree in Culinary Arts/Chef Training at Johnson & Wales University, spanning from 2014 to 2016.
