Arlene D. has extensive work experience in compliance and risk governance. Arlene is currently serving as the Chief Compliance Officer at First Electronic Bank since December 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of Founding Member - Chief San Francisco at Chief, a private network promoting women in positions of power. Arlene also served as the Chief Compliance Officer at Caribou from January to December 2022, at Bond from August 2020 to January 2022, and at Affirm, Inc. from March 2020 to August 2020. Additionally, they worked as the Enterprise Risk Officer - Bank Strategy at Affirm, Inc. from June 2019 to March 2020. Before that, Arlene held the position of SVP, Chief Compliance Officer at Celtic Bank from December 2016 to June 2019. Arlene was also the Head of Compliance, Internal Audit, and Comenity Capital Bank Audit Leader at Alliance Data Card Services in 2016. Arlene gained valuable experience working at GE Capital Bank, where they held roles such as Director of Compliance & Risk Governance from November 2012 to December 2015, Internal Audit from March 2011 to November 2012, and Internal Control Officer from November 2009 to March 2011. Arlene began their career at Washington Mutual Bank (WaMu) in 1992, initially in various positions in retail banking from January 1992 to April 1997, followed by roles in human resources from May 1997 to December 2004. During their time at WaMu, Arlene also served as an Internal Audit Consultant and Assistant Vice President of Internal Controls.
Arlene D. holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting from City University of Seattle. Arlene also earned an MBA degree from the same university. Additionally, they completed the Executive Development Program at the Utah Bankers Association and the Compliance Leadership Development program at GE Crotonville. Arlene D. is certified as a Certified Public Accountant from the Washington State institution, which they obtained in 2009.
