David Buchanan

David Buchanan serves as the Director of Consultation at the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) since October 2013, leading a team to facilitate the deployment of a nationwide public safety broadband network across 56 states and territories. Prior roles include Federal Program Officer at the US Department of Commerce (April 2013 - October 2013) and Deputy Director at the U.S. Department of Justice's COPS Office (November 2009 - April 2013), where significant contributions were made to management and operational improvements. Additional experience includes acting Director and Assistant Director positions within the COPS Office, as well as serving as Legislative Director for US Representative Bart Stupak and Legislative Assistant for US Representative John Conyers. David Buchanan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Alma College, earned between 1987 and 1991.
