Mounir El Asmar

Mounir El Asmar currently serves as the Head of IPPs & Strategic Accounts and Head of Hydrogen and Strategic Accounts at First Solar since August 2023. Prior to this role, Mounir was an Associate Professor at Arizona State University from May 2018 to August 2023, while also holding the position of Senior Sustainability Scientist at the ASU Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory from 2013 to August 2023. Mounir co-directed Sustainable Construction at The National Center of Excellence on SMART Innovations from 2012 to August 2023 and was an Assistant Professor at Arizona State University from 2012 to 2018. Earlier in the career, Mounir worked as a Research Associate/Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2008 to 2012 and as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2006. Academic credentials include a PhD and MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.
