Agenia W. Clark

Director at FirstBank

Agenia W. Clark is the current director at FirstBank. Prior to this, they were a regent with the Tennessee Board of Regents from April 2005 to May 2011. In this role, they chaired the Chancellor’s Search Committee and was a member of the Finance and Academic Affairs Committees. As Search Committee Chair, they led the selection process for and made the final candidate recommendation to the Governor of a new Chancellor for the Tennessee Board of Regents, which gained approval and the Chancellor’s appointment.

From 2003 to 2004, Clark served as Senior Director of Human Resources at Vanderbilt University. In this role, they were responsible for leading the human resources team and providing strategic direction for all aspects of human resources including recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.

In 2001, Clark founded Avenue Bank, where they served as Board of Directors from July 2007 to January 2016. During their time with Avenue Bank, they were also appointed by the Governor to the Tennessee Board of Regents in 2005 and served until 2011. As a regent, they actively participated in the policies of the TBR and in the higher education debates in the State of Tennessee. Agenia also participated in numerous University and Community College presidential search committees.

Dr. Agenia W. Clark earned their Doctor of Education (EdD) in Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness from Vanderbilt University. Agenia also has an MBA in Management from Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, as well as a BS in Communications from University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In addition, they hold a certification from Harvard Business School's Young American Leaders Program.
