Marco Thiess

Marco Thiess has a diverse work experience in the construction and innovation sectors. Marco is currently working as the Global Head of Innovation at fischer group since February 2022. Prior to this, they served as a member of the Advisory Board at Bundesverband Digitales Bauwesen (BDBau) e. V. starting from November 2020. Marco co-founded beyondbricks.io in September 2019, an Open Innovation Platform focused on ConstructionTech. Marco held the position of Co-Founder until December 2021. Marco also held various positions at Schüco International KG, including Member of Schüco Digital Board from January 2017 to December 2020, Senior Manager Startup Relations in 2016, Project Engineer in 2014, and Consultant and Engineering Trainee from 2010 to 2012. In addition, they worked as a Student at HOCHTIEF Construction AG from September 2007 to December 2008 and at Kada Wittfeld Architecture from July 2006 to June 2007.

Marco Thiess has pursued education in various fields throughout their career. Marco began their educational journey at HOCHTIEF Construction AG from 2000 to 2003, where they obtained a degree in Beton- und Stahlbetonbauer. Following this, they attended the University of Applied Sciences Bochum / Dortmund from 2003 to 2010, earning a Dipl.- Ing. (FH) degree in Architektur. Seeking further growth, Marco then enrolled at Harvard Business School in 2021 to delve into the field of Entrepreneurship Essentials. Currently, they are pursuing M&A studies at the St. Gallen Business School, which they are expected to complete in 2023.
