FISU stands for Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (International University Sports Federation) and was founded in 1949. FISU is the sole recognised governing body for international University Sport. FISU WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES A core responsibility of FISU is the supervision the FISU World University Games. The FISU Games are international sports and cultural events and are staged every odd year in a different city. FISU Games draw several thousand student-athletes together, making them the largest university multi-sport competitions in the world. FISU WORLD UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS FISU World University Championship are either a single sport or small cluster events taking place every even-numbered year and gathering student-athletes from all around the world to represent their country and compete against other. FISU UNIVERSITY WORLD CUPS The FISU University World Cups are the university sport's newest event properties, created to complement the FISU Games and the FISU World University Championships. The FISU University World Cups embraces a university-versus-university format instead of national delegations and, thus, are game-changers. EDUCATION Alongside our sports competitions, FISU also stages educational events and programmes. As the leading driver of the university sports movement, providing the opportunity for leadership, education and growth are just as important on FISU’s agenda. The FISU Education team encourages the study and enhancement of university sport through educational events, but also with studies and publications, lectures and other activities. HEALTHY CAMPUS Proposed and developed by the International University Sports Federation, the FISU Healthy Campus programme aims to enhance all aspects of well-being for students and the campus community at large. The initiative is already having a positive impact on the lives and lifestyles of university students around the world.
