Fermín Galán Márquez is an expert in SmartCities platform development at Telefónica España and has extensive experience in the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing, holding various technological roles at Telefónica I+D. Fermín has represented Telefónica in standardization activities within the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), contributing to multiple cloud standards. In addition to industry work, Fermín is an associate professor lecturing on data science, IoT technologies, and virtualization at several universities, including CESTE and Universidad de Salamanca. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Telematics from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, alongside numerous certifications in advanced technology and programming from leading institutions. Fermín also serves as a FIWARE Evangelist and has held multiple terms on the Technical Steering Committee.

Key areas of FIWARE innovations include Digital Twin, Artificial Intelligence, Data Spaces, and Blockchain. FIWARE is Day-1 member of GAIA-X and co-founder of the Data Spaces Business Alliance (DSBA).
