Matias Barbero

Matias Barbero has extensive experience in venture capital and investment banking, currently serving as a Venture Capitalist at FJ Labs since February 2021, where investments are made alongside Fabrice Grinda and Jose Marin, focusing on marketplaces and network effect businesses globally. Prior experience includes roles as an Investment Banking Associate at J.P. Morgan, specializing in M&A, IPOs, and Debt Capital Markets, and as a Strategy & Ops professional at Pryon, an AI startup backed by notable investors. Matias was also a founding member of the Duke MBA Blockchain Club and gained early investment experience as an Investment Associate at Triangle Angel Partners and in Institutional Sales & Trading at Adcap Grupo Financiero. Corporate development capabilities were developed during tenure at LAN Airlines. Matias holds an MBA from Duke University, where achievements included rank as a Fuqua Scholar, a CFA Level I certification, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Universidad de 'San Andrés'.
