Tom Turi has an extensive work experience in the field of biosciences. Tom is currently the Chief Scientific Officer at Flagship Biosciences, Inc. since 2022. Prior to that, they were the Chief Science Officer at Nexelis from 2020 to 2022. From 2008 to 2020, Tom was the Vice President of Companion Diagnostics at Labcorp Drug Development, where they established the Companion Diagnostic discipline with Central Labs and built a dedicated CDx Development Team to support proprietary CDx assays. Tom also established the Biomarker Center of Excellence. From 1998 to 2008, Tom held various roles at Pfizer Inc., including Senior Director, Director, Associate Director, and Manager of Genetic Technologies. During their time at Pfizer, they developed strategic and tactical business plans impacting broad areas of drug discovery and development, and developed and implemented global Pfizer strategies in Computational Biology, Functional Genomics, and key planks of the corporate Research and Development platform. Tom also led a team responsible for new target discovery and developed laboratory and bioinformatic platforms to support gene expression profiling technology.
Tom Turi received a B.S. in Biochemistry and Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1984, followed by a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1990.
