Ben Kompa

Ben Kompa is a Senior Associate at Flagship Pioneering, focusing on building new companies at the intersection of machine learning and biotechnology since September 2022. Previously, Ben was a PhD student at Harvard Medical School, conducting research on causal inference, large language models, and uncertainty quantification in machine learning for biomedicine under Dr. Andrew Beam. Ben's experience includes a consultant role at Flagship Pioneering, where a machine learning strategy for a life sciences company was developed, as well as positions at Cambridge University's DAMTP and Microsoft, where machine learning applications in various domains were explored. Ben holds a PhD from Harvard University, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
