Joy Right joined Flagship Pioneering in 2021 as vice president talent acquisition and executive search. Joy oversees the talent acquisition team and works with Flagship’s senior leadership to drive the firm’s recruitment strategy and execution. She is responsible for developing and implementing innovative talent acquisition approaches, creating a world-class candidate experience, and developing the practices, policies, and data-driven tools and technologies to cultivate high-performing, diverse talent across Flagship and the enterprise.
Joy offers more than 15 years of executive search and human resources leadership experience at prominent global organizations to this role. Prior to Flagship, Joy was the global head of executive talent acquisition at Merck where she led a team of recruiters to attract top talent into Merck globally. She transformed how the organization mapped the external market, built out its networks, and advanced processes using competitive research and industry insights to generate a pipeline of diverse executive talent and achieve strategic goals.
Prior to her time at Merck, Joy led executive search for IBM’s global business services unit focused on building the talent pipeline for its cognitive process transformation teams and conducted global searches for partner-level and other leadership roles. Previously, Joy held senior search and human resources roles at JM Search, a boutique executive search firm serving PE and VC clients, and at Kenexa, where during her 10-year tenure, she was both a founder of the recruitment process outsourcing business and vice president of human resources.
