Adam Emerson

Adam Emerson serves as the Executive Director of the Office of Independent Education and Parental Choice at the Florida Department of Education, a position held since January 2014. Previously, Adam was the Charter Schools Director at the same organization and directed the Program on Parental Choice at the Thomas B. Fordham Institute from February 2012 to December 2013, where responsibilities included drafting policy papers on various school choice issues. Adam also contributed to Step Up For Students as the Assistant Director for Communications and Public Affairs from July 2009 to January 2012, focusing on communication strategies for a nonprofit supporting low-income families. Earlier career experience includes serving as a reporter for The Tampa Tribune and the Lansing State Journal, covering education and local news. Adam holds a Bachelor's degree in English and journalism from Michigan State University.
