Matt Werder

Matt Werder's work experience includes positions at Fleet Feet, Upstate Event Management, Fleet Feet Sports Syracuse, and Baldwinsville Central School District.

At Fleet Feet, Werder held various roles from 2016 to the present. Matt started as a Senior Manager of Retail Operations, where they served as a project manager for major brand initiatives and launched programs to measure and improve customer experience. Matt then became the Director of Retail Experience, leading the strategy and execution for providing training and resources to franchisees and their teams. Werder was later promoted to Senior Director of Retail Operations and is currently serving as the Vice President of Retail Operations.

Prior to Fleet Feet, Werder worked as a Partner at Upstate Event Management starting in 2014. Matt is responsible for the management of events and partnerships.

Before that, Werder worked at Fleet Feet Sports Syracuse from 2005 to 2015. Matt started as an Inventory Receiver & Sales Associate and was later promoted to Assistant Marketing Manager and Marketing Manager. In their role as General Manager, they managed the operations of two stores and was accountable for sales forecasting, budgeting, and staff management.

Werder also served as the Head Coach of Girls Track and Field at the Baldwinsville Central School District from 2010 to 2012. Matt led the girls' indoor and outdoor track and field programs and personally coached the sprinters and hurdlers. Before becoming the head coach, they were an assistant coach for one year.

Overall, Werder has extensive experience in retail operations, project management, training and development, marketing, event management, and coaching.

Matt Werder received their Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from Syracuse University, which they attended from 2002 to 2006. In addition to their degree, they have obtained a Shoptalk Retail Education Certificate from Shoptalk in March 2022. Furthermore, they are currently pursuing a Strategic Leadership & Management Specialization from the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Matt has also taken the Introduction to Project Management Principles and Practices Specialization on Coursera.
