Gerrit Olivier

Chief Scientist at Fleet Space Technologies

Gerrit Olivier has extensive work experience in various research and leadership roles. Gerrit currently serves as Chief Scientist at Fleet Space Technologies, where they have been since 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as the Director of Planetary Geophysics at the same company.

Additionally, Gerrit is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast starting from 2023. Gerrit has also held positions as a Senior Adjunct Researcher at the University of Tasmania since 2019 and as an Associate Researcher at Université Grenoble Alpes since 2018.

Before joining academia, Gerrit worked at the Institute of Mine Seismology, where they held multiple positions including Director and Head of Applied Geophysics, Head of Applied Geophysics, and Researcher between 2011 and 2022.

Gerrit Olivier's education history begins in 2006 when they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Physics at Stellenbosch University. Gerrit completed this program in 2008, after which they decided to further their education. In 2010, Gerrit enrolled in Stellenbosch University again, this time pursuing a Master's Degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics. Gerrit completed this program in 2011. Building on their previous academic achievements, Gerrit then sought to enhance their knowledge and expertise in the field of Geophysics and Seismology. From 2013 to 2015, Gerrit attended Université Grenoble Alpes, where they successfully obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.
