Martin Stoate worked as a Systems Analyst at Philips Telecommunications from 1979 to 1983. Martin then became a Project Manager at STC from 1983 to 1987. After that, they worked as Sales Support at ICL in 1987 and as a Telecomms Consultant at PA Consulting Group from 1989 to 1993. Martin then joined CSC as EMEA Operational Director from 1993 to 1998. From 1998 to 2003, they worked as Director Systems Integration at Ericsson UK Ltd. After that, they served as Commercial Director at TractionPoint from 2003 to 2006. Martin then worked as a Managing Consultant at PA Consulting Group from 2006 to 2009. Martin Stoate was the Head of Sales & Account Management at Flint Consulting Ltd from 2009 until their retirement in December 2014.

Martin Stoate completed their B Sc in Mathematics at the University of Sussex from 1970 to 1973. Martin then pursued an M Sc in Computer Science at UCL, from 1975 to 1976.
