Leonard D. Schaeffer

Leonard D. Schaeffer turned a near-bankrupt Blue Cross of California into what would become one of the nation’s largest health benefits companies; now on the Board of Walgreens. He established the Shaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics at the University of Southern California (USC), to improve healthcare delivery and support evidence-based health policy. Currently Judge Maclay Widney Chair and Professor, Member of the National Academy of Medicine, and chair of the Roundtable on Quality Care for People with Serious Illness.
