Paolo Corti has extensive work experience in the field of geospatial software engineering and development. Paolo is currently employed as a Senior Geospatial Software Engineer at Floodbase, a position they began in November 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Vanu, Inc. from January 2020 to November 2021 as a Geospatial Software Engineer.
Before their roles at Vanu and Floodbase, Paolo was a Teaching Assistant at Trilogy Education from September 2019 to April 2020. Paolo also worked as a self-employed geospatial software developer and data engineer from November 2018 to January 2020. During this time, they worked on various projects, including development work for the World Food Programme, Terranodo LLC, and iCST.
Paolo's earlier experience includes being a Geospatial Engineer Fellow at Harvard University's Center for Geographic Analysis from November 2015 to November 2018. In this role, they were involved in the development of open source Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) and conducted research on using search engine technologies for spatial data discovery.
Paolo also worked as a GIS Specialist at the World Food Programme from December 2012 to November 2015. In this position, they designed and developed the GeoNode web GIS platform, developed geospatial tools for food security and disaster response, and managed the spatial database infrastructure.
Prior to that, Paolo was a Technical Author at Packt Publishing from June 2012 to February 2014, where they co-authored the PostGIS Cookbook. Paolo also worked as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Environment and Sustainability from July 2010 to December 2012, where they contributed to the design and development of OGC web services.
Paolo began their career as an IT Project Manager at Istituto Promozione Industriale in June 2001, where they led the research and development of web/GIS applications. Paolo worked in this position until June 2010. Before that, they were a Product Specialist at ESRI Italia S.p.A. from February 1999 to June 2001, specializing in ArcGIS Desktop and providing support and software development services.
Throughout their career, Paolo Corti has demonstrated a strong expertise in geospatial software engineering, development, and implementation, as well as a focus on open source technologies and web-based applications.
Paolo Corti attended Sapienza Università di Roma from 1990 to 1998. Paolo pursued a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Land and Environmental Engineering during this time.
