Director Of Special Education at FLORESVILLE ISD

Elia Cantu has over 10 years of experience working in the field of special education. Currently, they serve as the Director of Special Education at Floresville ISD since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Regional Coordinator for Special Services at Great Hearts Academies from July 2020. Elia also held the role of Section 504/Dyslexia Program Specialist at San Antonio ISD starting from August 2016. Before that, they were a Dyslexia Interventionist at San Benito CISD from August 2014 to May 2017. Elia began their career as a Special Education Transition/Vocational Adjustment Coordinator at Cluster XII Special Education Coop (Pearsall ISD) from August 2012 to May 2014.

Elia Cantu pursued their education with a strong focus on Kinesiology and Exercise Science. Elia first attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville from 1994 to 2001, earning their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. Following this, they enrolled at Midwestern State University from 2001 to 2007, where they obtained their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in the same field. Elia's commitment to education extended beyond their initial degrees, as they also obtained a Principal Certification in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Schreiner University.
