Daniel Flynn is a seasoned academic and researcher with extensive experience in microbial genomics, informatics, biotechnology, and entrepreneurship. Currently serving as a Professor and Vice President for Research at Florida Atlantic University since December 2014, Daniel provides leadership in research development and oversight in various areas, including sponsored programs and research compliance. Prior to this role, Daniel held positions as Associate Dean for Research at the University of Delaware College of Health Sciences and The Commonwealth Medical College, where responsibilities included organizing research programs, mentoring faculty, and advancing diversity initiatives. At West Virginia University, Daniel contributed as a Professor and Deputy Director of the MBR Cancer Center, focusing on R01 funded research in breast cancer and developing clinical trials. Educationally, Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Maryland, a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from North Carolina State University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
