Gina Smith

Gina Smith possesses extensive legal experience, having served as Chief Legal Counsel for the Florida Department of Financial Services since January 2017, where supervision of legal advice for law enforcement and fraud divisions is a key responsibility. Prior to this role, Gina was a Senior Attorney and Partner at Butler Weihmuller Katz Craig LLP, focusing on first-party property coverage and suspected insurance fraud claims from March 1999 to January 2017. Additionally, Gina's career includes significant prosecutorial experience in various capacities with the Florida Office of the Attorney General, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Office of the State Attorney, handling a range of criminal cases from white-collar crime to felonies. Gina holds a J.D. from Florida State University College of Law and advanced degrees in Public Administration and Political Science from recognized institutions.
