Epidemiologist (biological Scientist Ii) at Florida Health

Laura E. Sikes, MPH, CPH, is an experienced epidemiologist currently serving as a Biological Scientist II at Florida Health since July 2020. In this role, Laura investigates reportable infectious diseases in Escambia County, conducts Tuberculosis Control Program surveillance, and monitors syndromic surveillance programs while maintaining awareness of evolving State and CDC policies. Laura has successfully responded to infectious disease outbreaks and leads initiatives such as the Hepatitis A Task Force and the Influenza Control Program. Prior to this, Laura held various marketing and sales positions at Hy-Lite, where responsibilities included product development, digital marketing strategies, and managing national accounts. Laura's early career involved serving as Reservations Manager at Hampton Inn by Hilton. Educational credentials include a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences/Public Health, both from the University of West Florida, complemented by an Associate of Arts in Biology and Mathematics from Pensacola State College.
