Gabriel Nallathambi

Director, Algorithm and Data Science at VitalConnect

Gabriel Nallathambi has a diverse work experience in the field of algorithm and data science, biomedical engineering, and signal processing. Gabriel currently serves as the Director of Algorithm and Data Science at VitalConnect since January 2022. In this role, he is responsible for leading and managing algorithm projects. Prior to this, Gabriel worked at VitalConnect as a Project Manager, Algorithm from April 2020 to December 2021.

Before joining VitalConnect, Gabriel served as a Senior Biomedical Engineer in the R&D department at VitalConnect from October 2017 to March 2020. During this time, he played a crucial role in designing signal processing and machine learning algorithms for a wireless patch sensor that measures vital signs, actigraphy metrics, and detects arrhythmia. Gabriel led project teams through the entire development process, including design, development, verification and validation, and obtaining FDA clearances. His contributions resulted in 5 publications and 4 patents.

Gabriel's work history also includes his role as the Chief Scientist at Pulsics, where he implemented pulse-based systems for physiological monitoring and speech as part of an NSF SBIR funded project. Gabriel co-founded Pulsics in January 2016 and held the position until June 2017. Gabriel has one publication related to his work at Pulsics.

Furthermore, Gabriel has held research positions at the University of Florida. Gabriel worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate from March 2016 to December 2016, where he focused on developing mathematical theory, algorithms, and hardware architectures for pulse signal processing. Prior to this, he worked as a Research Assistant from January 2012 to December 2015, where he developed non-numeric signal processing algorithms with applications in ECG monitoring and pulse-based arithmetic. Gabriel obtained three patents and authored four publications during his tenure at the University of Florida.

Gabriel also worked as a Research Associate Intern at Convergent Engineering Inc from May 2014 to August 2014. Gabriel developed signal processing algorithms for detecting PPG features and quality metrics for ECG and PPG signals in Pre-eclampsia detection. Gabriel has one publication related to his work at Convergent Engineering Inc.

Overall, Gabriel Nallathambi has a strong background in algorithm and data science, biomedical engineering, and signal processing, with significant experience leading and contributing to various research and development projects.

Gabriel Nallathambi has an extensive education history in the field of engineering. Gabriel completed Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Coimbatore Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2010.

Gabriel then pursued further studies at the University of Florida, where he obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2010 to 2012. During this period, he also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Engineering Entrepreneurship from the University of Florida in December 2014.

Gabriel continued to expand his knowledge by pursuing a second Master of Science (M.S.) degree, this time in Biomedical Engineering, at the University of Florida from 2013 to 2014.

His educational journey culminated in obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Florida, which he completed from 2012 to 2015.

In addition to his formal education, Gabriel has also acquired several certifications. Gabriel obtained a Six Sigma Lean Black Belt Professional certification from the Management & Strategy Institute in March 2021. In August 2020, he completed the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) program offered by the Scrum Alliance. Furthermore, he obtained a Project Management certification from the University of California, Irvine Division of Continuing Education in May 2020.
