Sharif A. Mukul

Sharif A. Mukul, PhD, serves as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Environment and Development Studies at United International University since January 2023. Mukul holds honorary positions at Florida International University as a Research Associate Professor of Earth and Environment. Mukul also contributes as an Urban Environmental Management Specialist at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and as the Founding Executive Director at BioCarbon International. Additional roles include Nature-based Solutions Design Specialist at Shell and Senior Research Fellow at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Mukul has founded and coordinates the Centre for Research on Land-use Sustainability, while also holding positions related to environmental and climate change projects across various organizations. Mukul's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Environmental Management from The University of Queensland and multiple advanced degrees in forestry, agricultural development, and statistics from various international institutions.
