Shepard Vicenta

Shepard Vicenta currently serves as the Director of the Center for Academic Success at Florida International University since July 2011, leading initiatives related to tutoring and academic support. Prior experience includes the role of Reading and Learning Coordinator, where responsibilities involved recruiting and training tutors for Learning Centers. Vicenta is also actively engaged in professional organizations such as the National College Learning Center Association, where representation for FIU has been established, and membership with the College Reading and Learning Association has been maintained. Previous positions include a parent role and Reading Coach at Howard Drive Elementary, providing professional development for faculty. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Language, Literacy, and Culture from Florida International University, along with an Education Specialist degree and a Master of Science in Education focused on Reading and Learning Disabilities, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Florida.
