Elizabeth Nielson, Ph.D has extensive work experience in the field of psychedelic therapy and research. Elizabeth is a Co-Founder and Chief Visionary Officer at Fluence, a psychedelic therapy and integration training program. At Columbia University Department of Psychiatry and New York State Psychiatric Institute, they have served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical Psychology and Project Clinician, specializing in psilocybin therapy for treatment-resistant depression. Dr. Nielson has also been involved in clinical trials of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD as a Site Co-clinical Investigator and study therapist at the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). Elizabeth has held advisory roles at Psychedelic Medicine Association and Sansero Life Sciences Inc. In addition, Dr. Nielson has been a Psychologist at NYU Langone Health, where they have been part of research trials on psilocybin-assisted treatment for alcohol dependence and MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD. Elizabeth served as the Director of Education and Training at the Center for Optimal Living, providing consultations, psychotherapy, and trainings for clinicians. Furthermore, they were a Postdoctoral fellow at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing and worked as a Forensic Psychologist at Astor Services for Children & Families. Dr. Nielson's earlier experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the National Development & Research Institutes, specializing in behavioral science training in drug abuse research.
Elizabeth Nielson, Ph.D has a diverse education history. In 1997-2002, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from Eugene Lang College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Design from Parsons School of Design. In 2003-2004, they pursued a Master of Arts (MA) in Psychology from The New School. Later, in 2005-2006, they earned a Certificate in Portuguese-English Translation from the University of Toronto.
