Adrien Briod

Co-Founder & CTO at Flyability

Adrien Briod is a Swiss roboticist and entrepreneur. Adrien is the co-founder and CTO of Flyability, a company that develops flying robots inspired by insects.

Briod obtained their PhD from EPFL in 2013 for their thesis titled "Robust Autonomous Flight in Unstructured Environments". During their time at EPFL, they developed novel flying robots and autonomous flight control algorithms based on inertial and optic-flow sensors fusion.

In 2009, Briod became a team member and webmaster for the Robots Podcast, a podcast about robotics and artificial intelligence. Adrien remained with the podcast until 2015.

In 2016, Briod co-founded Flyability with Patrick Thévoz. The company's first product is Gimball, a collision-proof flying robot that is safe for humans and their surroundings.

Adrien Briod has a PhD in Robotics from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne). Adrien also holds a BSc and an MSc in Microengineering from EPFL, and an MSc in bio inspired robotics from Harvard University. Adrien is also a graduate of McGill University and CTI entrepreneurship.

Adrien Briod reports to Patrick Thevoz, CEO. Tim Corti - VP, Hardware Engineering, Ludovic Daler - VP, Hardware Engineering report to Adrien Briod. They work with Marc Gandillon - VP, Marketing, Nicolas Cebrian - VP, Operations, and Roberto Passini - VP, Sales.
