Matthijs Egelie

Matthijs Egelie possesses extensive experience in investment and risk management, currently serving as a Senior Investment Officer FI Africa at FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, since September 2009. In this role, Matthijs critically assesses financial proposals in key focus areas such as agriculture, energy, financial institutions, and private equity across frontier markets. Previously, Matthijs held several significant positions at FMO, including Senior Investment Officer for Energy and Financial Institutions in Asia, where responsibilities included structuring project finance debt packages and managing investments in India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. Matthijs's earlier career includes a role in risk management at FMO, where projects involved establishing collateral management and calculating economic capital, as well as experience in treasury operations at Indover. Matthijs holds a Master’s degree in Business Economics from Tilburg University.
