Mikaela Appel

Mikaela Appel is an experienced engineering professional specializing in system design and verification with a strong background in aviation and space technologies. Currently serving as a System Engineer and Group Leader at FMV - Försvarets materielverk since February 2022, Mikaela previously worked at Saab from May 2013 to January 2022 in various roles, including System Engineer & Team Lead, focusing on the JAS 39 Gripen E's propulsion system and structural stress of its wings and control surfaces. Earlier positions include Simulation and Calculation Engineer at Devex Mekatronik AB, Satellite Controller at the Swedish Space Corporation, and internships at NASA Ames Research Center and the SETI Institute, where master theses were completed in astrobiology. Mikaela holds a degree from Luleå University of Technology, completed in 2010.
