Harvinder Walia

Harvinder Walia has over 25 years of work experience in the field of engineering and technology. Harvinder started their career as an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, Pune University in 1991. Harvinder then worked as a System Analyst at Infosys from 1993 to 1995. After that, they joined Fortuna Technologies as a Software Engineer from 1995 to 1996.

In 1996, Harvinder joined Oracle as a Member of Technical Staff and led the development of Email protocol servers. Harvinder implemented IMAP and POP3 servers and local delivery agent. Harvinder later became the Sr Development Manager and built one of the first large-scale unstructured data stores in Oracle database. Harvinder also managed the development of Email, News, and List servers and was the architect for the Email service and data storage. From 2005 to 2010, they served as the Director of Development at Oracle, managing global engineering teams responsible for the development of Email, Discussion Forums, Voicemail, and Mobility products. Harvinder also drove integration efforts with Oracle products.

In 2010, Harvinder joined StrongView (Acquired by HGGC) as the Director of Development. Harvinder managed the development of the Email marketing application and led the development of the Lifecycle Marketing product enabling multi-step marketing automation. In 2012, they were promoted to Vice President, Engineering, where they managed global engineering teams responsible for all development, release management, and customer engineering activities. Harvinder set up new offshore teams and adopted agile methodologies, continuous integration, and test automation. Harvinder built innovative features for mobile marketing, campaign optimization, delivery channels, open-time personalization, and reporting.

In 2016, Harvinder co-founded FOCUS451, Inc., and then in 2017, they joined Yahoo as the Director of Engineering.

Harvinder Walia pursued a Bachelor of Science in Electronics from Savitribai Phule Pune University from 1986 to 1989. Following that, they enrolled in the same university and obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from 1989 to 1991.
